And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God amongst the trees of the garden. 9) And the Lord God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10) And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself." In the text here we find Adam and his wife, in the garden, aware of their sins, since eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you back up and read verse 6, it says that it was good, and pleasant to the eyes. Oh how often does sin first appear to be something good for us. Oh how often does sin first seem to be pleasant to us. Only to latter reveal, the ugly truth. Not only did this decision cause them to see their sins, but, it also caused them to withdraw from God. How often do we find ourselves in this same situation? Something sinful looks good and pleasant to our eyes, in the beginning. But, we latter find, after a taste of it, that sin is anything but good and pleasant. We find ourselves drawing farther away from God. We find ourselves trying to hide our sins. If we read on we find in verses 12 & 13, the man and the woman placing blame everywhere except on themselves. The woman blamed the serpent, and the man blamed the woman. The man even implied that God was partially to blame because he gave the woman to him. How often do we blame God and others for the sins that we commit? Look back at verse 9, and place your name there in place of Adam. "And the Lord God called unto ........, and said unto him, Where art thou?" That's a good question. Where are you? God already knows the answer. How will you respond? God loves you!!!!

View MoreDeuteronomy 11:16-17,"16) Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them; 17) And then the Lord's wrath be kindled against you,". Pay close attention to yourselves so you don't turn away from God and his commands. Be careful not to have other gods that you serve more willingly, or with more enthusiasm than you do the Lord. If you have a choice between going to church and going to another activity; and you choose the other activity then you are in danger of stirring up the Lord's wrath and anger toward yourself. Do you get more excited over hunting or a ballgame than you do when in the presence of God? Do you choose television or the internet over studying God's word? Are you serving the gods of this world or the Almighty God? Do not fool yourself. Do not think,"!Well hunting isn't a sin!" In and of itself, it isn't. But we sometimes choose to make it one by placing it's importance ahead of God. The same as that ballgame or Facebook aren't sin in and of themselves; they only become sin when they become a god. Back up to Deuteronomy 11:13," Ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul." Are you serving God in this manner?

View MoreJames 1:22," But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves." As I read this verse I can't help but think of countless conversations that I have had with many different people concerning different scriptures. No matter what the subject of the scripture is, many times someone's response is," Well I don't see anything wrong with ............." Friends if we look at what God commands us to do and choose only to change the things that suit us, then we are in deed deceiving ourselves. Matthew 7:24-27, tells of two men who built houses, one who built upon a rock and was wise and a second that built upon the sand and was foolish. The wise man's house which was built on the rock survived the storms whole the foolish man's house on the sand was destroyed by the storms. If we attend church week after week and our heart and soul are stirred by the message, but there is no change in our life, then we are deceiving our selves. We are commanded here to not only hear the word, but to also live it. Becoming a Christian and living a Christian life should cause changes to our lifestyle. It should cause changes in every part of our life. We should be attending church and reading God's word with the desire to not only hear what God is saying but to want to change and do it. Lord I ask you today to plant that desire into my heart and soul to not only be a hearer, but, also a doer. No matter what I think about it. What I think is irrelevant. What you, my Lord, thinks is what's important.
