Read these passages slowly and study them intently. They parallel each other in more ways than one (see below) – MATTHEW 5:17-20 (GW) “Don’t ever think that I came to set aside Moses’ Teachings or the Prophets. I didn’t come to set them aside but to make them come true. I can guarantee this truth: Until the earth and the heavens disappear, neither a period nor a comma will disappear from the Scriptures before everything has come true. So whoever sets aside any command that seems unimportant and teaches others to do the same will be unimportant in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever does and teaches what the commands say will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. I can guarantee that unless you live a life that has God’s approval and do it more faithfully than the experts in Moses’ Teachings and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. ROMANS 10:1-13 (GW) Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God on behalf of the Jewish people is that they would be saved. I can assure you that they are deeply devoted to God, but they are misguided. They don’t understand ⌞how to receive⌟ God’s approval. So they try to set up their own way to get it, and they have not accepted God’s way for receiving his approval. Christ is the fulfillment of Moses’ Teachings so that everyone who has faith may receive God’s approval. Moses writes about receiving God’s approval by following his laws. He says, “The person who obeys these laws will live because he obeys them.” However, Scripture says about God’s approval which is based on faith, “Don’t ask yourself who will go up to heaven,” (that is, to bring Christ down). “Don’t ask who will go down into the depths,” (that is, to bring Christ back from the dead). However, what else does it say? “This message is near you. It’s in your mouth and in your heart.” This is the message of faith that we spread. If you declare that Jesus is Lord, and believe that God brought him back to life, you will be saved. By believing you receive God’s approval, and by declaring your faith you are saved. Scripture says, “Whoever believes in him will not be ashamed.” There is no difference between Jews and Greeks. They all have the same Lord, who gives his riches to everyone who calls on him. So then, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” PARALLEL REASON #1 – This is the A.D. Era now. Mosaic Law’s obsolete (and yes, contrary to popular belief, that incudes those “Ten Commandments”). 2 CORINTHIANS 3:7 (GW) The ministry that brought death was inscribed on stone. Yet, it came with such glory that the people of Israel couldn’t look at Moses’ face. His face was shining with glory, even though that glory was fading. HEBREWS 8:6 (GW) Jesus has been given a priestly work that is superior to the Levitical priests’ work. He also brings a better promise from God that is based on better guarantees. HEBREWS 8:13 (GW) God made this new promise and showed that the first promise was outdated. What is outdated and aging will soon disappear. PARALLEL REASON #2 – Forgiveness occurs through Jesus’ finished work at Calvary. Salvation follows that with His Resurrection. Those imply “ONLY”. That “ONLY” also implies JESUS, not HUMAN OPINIONS. Don’t bother adding to those or taking away from those. Cults do junk like that which is why they’re called “cults”. Also, don’t bother assuming who’s saved or who’s not since realistically you have no idea what’s in a person’s heart. It could be one thing now but could also be the opposite in an instant. As 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 imply, spiritual growth only happens one way and none of us humans have that capability. JOHN 7:24 (GW) (“)Stop judging by outward appearance! Instead, judge correctly.” ROMANS 5:10 (GW) If the death of his Son restored our relationship with God while we were still his enemies, we are even more certain that, because of this restored relationship, the life of his Son will save us. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:5-9 (GW) Who is Apollos? Who is Paul? They are servants who helped you come to faith. Each did what the Lord gave him to do. I planted, and Apollos watered, but God made it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is important because ⌞only⌟ God makes it grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have the same goal, and each will receive a reward for his own work. We are God’s coworkers.
