View MoreWhile working on a second master's degree, I noticed a distinct difference in what women research and what men research. I also noticed that the things women researched got support from the female professors, but the things that men researched (unless they were men "of color," or were a member of the Alphabet Rainbow, or both, singing one of the pet victim narratives) were actively discouraged, generally not understood, and generally graded lower by the female professors. Even most of the male professors actively supported what women researched over men, just because that's what sells within the echo chambers of the discipline. Women are also highly favored to receive the scholarships as well. I had a 4.0 GPA in my first master's and a 4.0 GPA in my work on the second masters, but I never received a scholarship. On the other hand, the women with lower GPAs, women who surfed the Internet in class and didn't pay attention or take notes, but who were singing the pet narratives preferred by the panel of women professors who decided who got the scholarships, DID get the scholarships. A few times, they claimed that my application had "gotten lost," and many times, I would even be left out of any e-mails sent out to the applicants that announced who won the scholarships. They'd make up some BS excuse as to why, sometimes even trying to blame it on me. Please. I also noticed an extreme decrease in the empirical, scientific process as well, in favor of feelings-based, and victim-narrative research. What so-called "science" that was being done, was all based on statistics, which can be easily manipulated. Many times the female professors would assign so-called "peer-reviewed" articles to read that were easily identified as being academically dishonest. When I privately pointed out the articles' dishonesty (such as citing articles or papers that didn't exist; blatantly altering the meaning of what other authors had written; blatantly altering the findings of an article; etc. ) I would be attacked and treated as though I were the one being dishonest. On the whole, I found the whole experience to be very lacking in anything substantial or anything worthy of pursuit -- just folks singing the pet victim narratives, and not really contributing ANYTHING to the discipline, or to the pursuit of knowledge.
