Did Paul write the book of Hebrews?I have a bible that reads on the title page to the book of Hebrews, "The Epistle of Paul The Apostle To The Hebrews".But that sentence is not from God. That is a publisher's false assumption. This is one reason to use a King James Bible free from liner notes and opinions from so-called "scholars". They will mislead you. While true that the book is written to the twelve tribes of Israel who are the Hebrews, the publisher of my bible assumes that Paul is the author. But Paul himself proves that to be false. The bible interprets itself and tells us that Paul signed every epistle he wrote with his name as a consistent token of authorship of his epistles in his salutation. The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. - 2 Thessalonians 3:17 KJBA salutation is a greeting at the beginning of a letter. In Paul's epistles, his token of authorship is always his name which is consistently his very first word in each first verse (see attached graphic).Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ | Romans 1:1Paul, called to be an apostle | 1 Corinthians 1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ | 2 Corinthians 1:1Paul, an apostle ... by Jesus Christ | Galatians 1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ | Ephesians 1:1Paul and Timotheus | Philippians 1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ | Colossians 1:1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus | 1 Thessalonians 1:1Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus | 2 Thessalonians 1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ | 1 Timothy 1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ | 2 Timothy 1:1Paul, a servant of God | Titus 1:1Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ | Philemon 1:1If an epistle does not carry the token of Paul's name as the first word in the salutation, God's word of truth is telling you that Paul did not write it. He stated this two more times to make sure we do not miss it.The salutation of me Paul with mine own hand. - 1 Corinthians 16:21 KJBThe salutation by the hand of me Paul. - Colossians 4:18 KJBWhen the original letters were written, even when he had help from Timothy and Silvanus in writing, Paul would sign his own name at the beginning of each letter with his own hand. That was his unmistakable token. His signature.Inspired by the Holy Spirit, Paul did this for two reasons. One was for the purpose of rightly dividing the word of truth. Paul's doctrine and audience are different from other authors as he was given exclusive apostleship to the Gentiles. The other authors wrote to Israel and God did not want to cause doctrinal or dispensational confusion when Paul's letters fulfilled the word of God (Col. 1:25 KJB).And the second was to prevent his recipients from believing counterfeit letters from deceivers posing as himself. We see that this did happen to the Thessalonians. They were confused by a deceptive letter that had them shaken in mind and troubled. Paul had to address this. That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor BY LETTER AS FROM US, as that the day of Christ is at hand. LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU by any means: - 2 Thess. 2:2-3 KJBAnd of course "as from US" is referring back to his salutation in the first chapter. "Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus (2 Thess. 1:1 KJB)".This is why 2 Thess. 3:17 is in the same letter as 2 Thess. 2:2-3. Paul was instructing them on how to avoid believing any future fraudulent letters.Following Paul's epistles is the book of Hebrews as the bible is dispensationally organized. The first word is telling.Hebrews 1:1 - God ...Does this letter to the Hebrews have Paul's token salutation written by his own hand? It certainly does not. The Thessalonians would now tell you that Paul did not write it, but some today would have you believe he did.The book of Hebrews is a book about future prophecy for Israel in ages to come. It has nothing to do with the age of grace, the church, the body of Christ, or the revelation of the mystery given to Paul. The book of Hebrews was clearly written by a member of the little flock of Israel (Luke 12:32 KJB), likely John Mark who is mentioned in Acts 12:12, 12:25,15:37 KJB, etc. But that is another study. So if anyone tries to convince you that Paul wrote Hebrews, you now cannot be fooled by them. You know how the Bible interprets itself as shown above - Paul’s token salutation is in Romans through Philemon exclusively.Thank you for reading. Grace and Peace. Scott Clarke
