FAITH
What is "FAITH"?
The biblical definition of FAITH is basically BELIEVING that what God has said in his WRITTEN word, rightly divided, is TRUE (regardless of what we see).
.
.
Here's how we know ...
.
Paul writes,
2 Corinthians 5:7 (KJV): "For we walk by faith, not by sight:"
Romans 10:17 (KJV): "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."
2 Corinthians 4:13 (KJV): "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;"
2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV): "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."
.
.
And, its important to know that faith is NOT a work.
Work is something you DO; it is a physical visible action.
Faith is simply believing. Faith is an invisible non-physical decision of the will.
Here's how we know that a "work" is something you DO.
.
Paul writes,
Titus 3:5 (KJV): "Not by WORKS of righteousness which we have DONE,"
.
.
And, here's the best proof text that proves that faith is NOT a work.
.
Paul writes,
Romans 4:5 (KJV): "But to him that WORKETH NOT, BUT BELIEVETH on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."
.
.
Notice it says believing (faith) without working.
Therefore, faith is NOT a work since you can believe and work not.
Faith is believing that what God has said in his written word is true.
