Just before drifting off to sleep, I received a Word from our Father, that was so revelatory I had to sit up and take notice.
When God gives a Word of promise, He sees the other side that we cannot; He sees the final destination.
Imagine you are preparing for a flight. You have an idea of what it will look like, you know where you are headed, but the minute details are really left up to the pilot. The flight may be delayed, he may need to take a detour, you may encounter rough turbulence, you may even be caught up in an unexpected storm that shakes your entire world and feels like you're never coming out- but eventually you will arrive where you were destined to be.
Do you storm the cabin of the plane demanding to know when you will take off? Do you question why you are thousands of miles in the air, held in limbo, completely out of control and helpless? Do you fret and fear that you won't get to where you were promised?
In most cases-no.
We buckle up, sit tight and ride out the conflict ahead, knowing that delays may be protection, detours may be blessings and storms will always end in sunshine.
So, why when God speaks a Word on our situations do we immediately go to distrust, doubt, and fear?
If we can put trust in a flesh and blood pilot to get to where we're going; one who is flawed, imperfect and prone to mistakes, how much more should we trust our perfect, honest and loving Heavenly Father?
He actively watches over His Word to make sure it accomplishes everything, He set it out to do. Not one Word He gives, will return back to Him, unfulfilled- He completes everything He begins.
His promises are safe investments. When we decree His Word, angels are put on assignment.
From our earth bound perspective, we may not see the other side of the promise, but our Pilot does. That simple assurance brings peace, gratitude and... rest. -Jorene Kay
