Today we’d like to introduce you to Crissy Isabel.
Hi Crissy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started back in 2016 just after having my first daughter. As a new mom, I wanted to find something that I would enjoy doing from home so my husband got me a Cricut for Christmas and from there, I started making t-shirts and glitter wine glasses.
I went back to work and nursing school just three months after having my daughter and with the trials and tribulations of having a new baby and everything associated with that. I ended up failling out of nursing school.
That’s when I decided to stay home full time with Emma and really focus on earning an income by turning my hobby into a small business.
I signed up to the Etsy platform and quickly started selling my products all over the United States as well as internationally.
I fell in love with the process and eventually started making resin tumblers and making tutorials for YouTube. In 2018, I evolved my business even further and started selling craft supplies to fellow resin artists.
Now I have over 40,000 subscribers on YouTube and have membership group where I teach others how to make tumblers as well as sell my glitter.
I absolutely love what I do and I wouldn’t change it for the world!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d be lying if I said my journey was smooth, There have definitely been struggles along the way. Running a small business that is based on handmade items can be really challenging. It’s art and not everyone can see the value in that. so There will always be customers who will try to challenge the value you place on your artwork but the key is to have confidence in your work and stand by your prices.
Just like all businesses, there’s always going to be times when businesses is booming and times when it’s not. Those times can definitely be discouraging but staying consistent and utilizing social media has definitely helped keep things steady.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a resin tumbler artist, a glitter supply seller, and a tumbler maker educator. I create tutorials and content for social media platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Tiktok. I am most known for my luxury glitter supply, as well as always being there to help and teach others who are also trying to grow and become successful.
I am most proud of the personal growth that I’ve had inside of the maker community and the relationship built along the way.
One thing that sets me apart from most is my willingness to help others no matter what it is. A lot of people question why would I help someone who is a direct competitor to me but in my opinion there’s plenty of room for us all and I’m more than happy to help and I love seeing others succeed. I think as a women, it’s important to uplift other women and show the world that we can work together.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Don’t give up!
It’s easy to look around at others around you who are in chapter 20 of their journey and think it’s impossible to get there but it totally is. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, find mentors who are willing to help and who genuinely want to see you succeed.
Don’t compare yourself to others, it’s easy to fall into that cycle of not feeling good enough but you are good enough. Focus on your own journey and success will follow.
