He said he had gotten used to it and probably would continue, to which I pointed out, "Not good-that's what they're counting on"
We've had several good, patriot conversations prior, so it wasn't surprising to talk about the previous inferred face diaper "mandate" and why our family would not participate; we're not slaves, nor a third world country and that it is detrimental to childhood development when they cannot read expressions.
He repeated back the last reason, phrased in a question, and I affirmed firmly, "Absolutely"
Well, it wasn't long until he saw case in point before his very eyes.
My son, who is normally easy going, joking around, smiley- went anxious, nervous, barely making eye contact as the doctor reached diagnosis/solution.
Toward the end of the appointment, Doc removed his mask and immediately saw his demeanor relax, a light come back in his eyes and become animated in conversation.
It wasn't missed in Doc, as he noted, "It looks like there is something to kids reading facial expressions!"
I was kind in not adding, "No duh!" to my confirming "Mmm hmm"
Later, after we'd left, I asked my kiddo why he'd clammed up and barely responded to questions regarding his condition- that that's why we were there, to get help.
"Mom, all I saw were these big ole' eyes looking at me. I couldn't tell if he was happy or sad- it was creepy"
Now this is a spectrum teen's reaction- imagine littles that cannot vocalize fear response.
What a terrible disservice we have done to innocent culture these last 3 formative years! (See attached vid)
I pray it's able to be undone, but it is our responsibility as parents to ensure children are sheltered, protected and guarded from an enemy intent on stealing, killing and destroying from them #John1010
If God says we are His image bearers, are we surprised the king of counterfeit, schemes to put our lights under cover [Matthew 5:14,15] ?
We must be on our A game, not falling for his deception and deceit.
When we compromise, people notice. But the opposite is also true; when we take a stand...people notice, and it may be just the encouragement they need- to do the same
